West Ham fans are ‘done’ with Marko Arnautovic, claims talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham
West Ham fans are “done” with Marko Arnautovic and should have sold him in January, according to talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham.Arnautovic, 29, was desperate to force a big money move to China earlier this year but was unsuccessful in his attempts to do so.Marko Arnautovic’s relationship with West Ham fans is at an all-time low2

He eventually signed a new contract at the London Stadium, but his relationship with Hammers fans has now turned sour with them bemused at how he handled the situation.Making his first start for the club since January against Huddersfield last weekend, Arnautovic failed to endear himself to the home faithful producing a particularly poor display.A chorus of boos and jeers from home fans came in the 67th minute when the Austrian striker was eventually substituted.Speaking on Drivetime, Durham and co-host Darren Gough discussed the ongoing saga, with the former claiming the east London side should have sold the former Stoke striker in the last transfer window.Durham said: Ever since he said he wanted to go to China, the fans were done with him.“When he said he wanted to go China to win things nobody really believed that, come on!“What was even worse was when he stayed and signed a new contract, West Ham released a video on Twitter of him saying this and that.“I thought blah, blah, again nobody believed a word of it.“That was just a lame, PR exercise. “His stock is low with supporters now and I’m not surprised whatsoever.”Gough believes the Hammers now have another Dimitri Payet situation on their hands, with Arnautovic facing an uncertain future at the Premier League outfit.Like Arnautovic, Payet was a firm fans favourite before an acrimonious falling out during his second season at the club. That led to him eventually returning to his former side Marseille in January 2017 after submitting a transfer request. And Gough believes the Hammers will fall on the wrong side of another transfer saga once the summer comes along. “What they didnt want was another Payet situation and that’s what theyve got,” he explained.“They should have let him go because he was desperate to go and still is.“The reason West Ham stood firm is because they didn’t want people thinking these players can come and bully us again, especially after what happened with Payet.“When you get a player who doesnt want to be there youre better off without them – especially someone like him who has history for this sort of thing.”
